Top Destinations

Iconic National Parks of Uganda & Rwanda

Bwindi Impenetrable NP (Uganda)

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the ultimate destination for mountain gorilla trekking. Home to nearly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas, trekking through steep, misty trails to spend one precious hour with a gorilla family is an experience that changes how you see the world.

Queen Elizabeth NP (Uganda)

Uganda's most visited park, famous for tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector, superb boat cruises on the Kazinga Channel, and exceptional game drives on the Kasenyi Plains.

Murchison Falls NP (Uganda)

Uganda's largest national park and richest in biodiversity. The mighty Nile forces itself through a 7-metre gap in the falls. Boat cruises, chimp trekking in Budongo, and abundant savannah wildlife.

Volcanoes NP (Rwanda)

Rwanda's mountain gorilla trekking hub, endowed with lush bamboo forests and volcanic slopes that shelter gorillas and golden monkeys in the Virunga range.

Nyungwe National Park (Rwanda)

One of Africa's ancient forests, Nyungwe is Rwanda's primate capital with over 13 species including chimpanzees. The canopy walkway 70m above the forest floor is extraordinary.

Akagera National Park (Rwanda)

Rwanda's only savannah park, hosting all Big 5 including reintroduced lions and black rhinos. Game drives and boat safaris on Lake Ihema are breathtaking.

What Our Guests Say

★★★★★

Trekking the gorillas in Bwindi was the single most powerful wildlife experience of my life. Lechwe Safari made every detail flawless — from the lodge to the guide to the moment we sat with the gorilla family. Absolutely unforgettable.

★★★★★

We did the 10-day combined Uganda-Rwanda trip and the organisation was impeccable. Two gorilla encounters, chimpanzees in Kibale, and the most beautiful scenery imaginable. Our guide Godfrey was exceptional — knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about conservation.

★★★★★

From Nairobi to the Maasai Mara, everything was perfectly arranged. We witnessed a wildebeest river crossing on day two — something I've watched on documentaries for 30 years. Lechwe Safari made it happen. Worth every single penny.

When to Travel

Best Time for a Safari in Uganda and Rwanda

☀️ Long Dry Season

June – September

The best time for gorilla trekking, game drives, and most safari activities. Clear roads, excellent visibility, and peak wildlife viewing conditions.

🌤️ Short Dry Season

December – February

Fewer crowds, more affordable packages, and still excellent safari conditions. A great alternative to the peak season with equally memorable experiences.
